Hot and Cold Water Dispensers with Filtration Systems
Water filter installation is an important step to take if you want the water supply at your home or business to be cleaner, healthier, and great tasting. Many people buy water filter pitchers, bottled water, or a filter for their kitchen faucet, but this doesn't keep up with the demand for purified water if you have a family or own a business. As well, a kitchen water filter doesn't help with the laundry or the shower. If your water supply has impurities or sediment, this water is not just in your kitchen, it's with you in the shower when you bathe, it's in your clothes, and everywhere else you use water. Water that is high in sediments and other impurities can taste bad, cause staining, and possibly make you ill.
Boiler Repairs and Replacements
Repairing and replacing boiler systems is quickly becoming a lost art. Not so for the experts at J. Ellis Plumbing & Heating. We realize that everyone has different needs when it comes to heating, and our technicians are the best in Townsend, Massachusetts and the surrounding areas, often traveling many miles to repair troublesome boiler systems. We have earned a reputation for excellence in repairing or replacing all types of boilers.

Sump Pump Installations
Like other major appliances, sump pumps should be inspected for wear and tear each year. Early spring is a good time to have this check completed because when the thawing from winter begins, the ground becomes more saturated and it rains more often. This means your sump pump is working overtime, especially from March to May.
Sump pump are pumps used to remove water that has accumulated in a sump pit. A sump pit, commonly found in the home basement, is simply a depression designed to collect water. The water may enter through the perimeter drains of a basement waterproofing system directing the water into the pit. Sump pumps can also handle excess rain or a naturally high ground water table, if the basement is below the water table level.
On demand water heaters
If you are looking for ways to cut your energy costs, consider having demand water heaters (also called tankless water heaters) installed in your home. A standard tank type water heater wastes energy by keeping water hot 24 hours a day whether it will be needed soon or not. The energy wasted keeping water hot during period of no demand is called the standby energy loss.
Demand or tankless water heaters eliminate the standby energy loss by only heating water as it is used. When a faucet is opened or a shower is turned on, the water runs through the heater where it is heated and then delivered to the tap. The heating process only takes a few seconds so the supply of hot water is almost instantaneous. However, just like with a standard tank type water heater, if the tankless water heater is located some distance from the tap it will take a little time for the hot water to make its way there.
Indirect water heaters
Indirect water heaters offer a more efficient choice for most homes, even though they require a storage tank. An indirect water heater uses the boiler to heat water that's circulated through a heat exchanger in the storage tank.
Frozen pipe thawing and repair
Frozen water pipes for plumbing and heating happen December through February when the temperature is the coldest. Cold temps and high winds resulting in a low wind chill is the major cause of frozen pipes in the wall. The second leading cause is homes not being occupied and losing heat.
Frozen plumbing can be more than a temporary inconvenience. Frozen water pipes can cause major damage when the pipe thaws and the water starts to flow. Frozen hot water heat lines will prevent heat from reaching parts of your home. Water damage can result when a split water pipe occurs due to expansion caused by freezing. Thawing a pipe as soon as possible can help prevent a break in a pipe.
Radiant heat (floor/panel radiators)
Radiant heating does not dehumidify the air, so in winter, room humidity is more ideal. Unlike forced hot air, radiant heat will not dry out breathing passages or furniture. With no fans or blowers, radiant is dust-free, so it's also cleaner. Virus particles, bacteria and pet dander fall to the floor instead of circulating constantly in the air, so your family will stay healthier in winter.
Snow melt systems
Can you imagine waking up after a big snow storm in New England, and not having to shovel your driveway, stairs, or sidewalk? Enjoy the luxury of an energy efficient snow melt system in your very own driveway. No more shoveling, salting, or using snowmelt chemicals! J. Ellis Plumbing & Heating has the experience and expertise needed to professionally install, repair, or maintain your snowmelt system.
Baseboard heaters have been around for many years, with radiators coming into their own during the 1940s. The modern version of hydronic heating is much simpler and more lightweight, allowing for quick installation at the base of any wall in your home. These heaters can be zoned into separate control areas to simplify managing multiple climates in your home.
